Annual Dinner Weds. 27.01.16 from 19hrs

Dear Members,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the annual dinner of the Cambridge Society will be held on the evening of Wednesday 27th January 2016 from 19hrs.

We are delighted to welcome Stephen Evans CMG OBE, who until this year was Assistant Secretary General for Operations at NATO. Former Ambassador to Afghanistan Mr Evans was subsequently "Director of Afghanistan Information Strategy” at the Foreign Office in London. Drawing on these experiences he will say a few words on relations in that part of the world:

"The Great Game, Past and Present"

Stephen Evans was educated at King's College, Taunton, then gained a BA degree from Bristol University. He served in the Royal Tank Regiment studied Vietnamese at SOAS and has held posts in Hanoi, Bangkok, Istanbul, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. He holds a Master of Philosophy from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.

We are most pleased that the dinner will again be held at the “Club des Officers du Premier Regiment de Guides", (32, rue d’Arlon, Brussels 1000, close to Luxembourg Station).

Dress is black tie or smart evening dress.

We would like all members to feel they can attend (partners welcome, if space allows!). Accordingly, whilst the full ticket price for members & their partners is €60/head,  we would like to offer two special concessions. Firstly a special price for members under 30 of €40/head and secondly the possibility of attendance subsidised by society funds if anyone should be in a position of genuine need (please apply accordingly). The price for non-member, non-partner Cantabrigians guests is €70.

Please confirm your attendance before Wednesday 20th January and make your payment to the Cambridge Society bank account (BE26 0689 0251 7329 in the name of "Cambridge Society of Belgium”)  mentioning "Annual Dinner 2016". Your participation is confirmed once your payment has been received. Please note, that no refunds for cancellations can be made after the 22nd January.

May I remind you that the Annual dinner and any other events the Society organises is only open to paid-up members. So, take this opportunity to transfer your 2016 subscription fee now (30 euros or 50 euros for two alumni in the same household!

On behalf of all the Committee,

Yours sincerely,

Rupert Carter
