Society Annual Dinner: Monday 8th February, 2010 from 19hrs

Dear Members,

May I first of all take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy Christmas and all the best for 2010.

It has been a busy year at the Cambridge Society of Belgium, whilst some members have moved away new faces have joined us and we have enjoyed the usual sense of conspiracy at a jovial and eclectic mix of events. Collectively we look forward to the initiative of our membership that there be many more occasions to bring us together in the months to come.

The thrust of this missive is to announce that, with special thanks to the juggling skills of Luis Cuervo-Spottorno, the diplomatic zeal of (Guy) Knapton-the-Golfer and the loyal precision of our Hon. Treasurer Ludo de Vleeschauwer, the annual dinner of the Cambridge Society of Belgium will be held on Monday 8th February, 2010 from 19hrs in our now-traditional venue that sits, in effect, on a square known to many simply as "Place Lux.".

We are delighted to welcome as our guest and speaker Dr Terence Kealey, Vice Chancellor of the University of Buckingham, Britain's only private university. Dr Kealey is a Clinical Bio-Chemist with expertise in the cell biology of the human skin, in the economics of science and in higher education. He has a reputation for insightful thinking and outspokenness and I think we can look forward to an engaging evening.

We are most pleased that the dinner will again be held at the "Club des Officers du Premier Regiment de Guides", 32, rue d'Arlon, Brussels, overlooking the European Parliament.

We would like all members to feel they can attend. Accordingly, whilst the full ticket price is €60/head,  we would like to offer two special concessions. Firstly a special price for the Under 30's of €40/head and secondly the possibility of attendance subsidised by society funds if anyone should be in a position of genuine need (please apply accordingly).

Please confirm your attendance to Luis Cuervo-Spottorno at the following e-mail address:

luis.cuervo-spottorno@ec.europa.eu

and make your payment to the Cambridge Society bank account (776-5978534-36) mentioning "Annual Dinner".  Your participation is confirmed once your payment has been received. No refunds for cancellations will be made after Monday 01.02.2010

Dress is black tie or smart evening dress.

On behalf of all the Committee,

Yours sincerely,

Rupert Carter
