Oxford vs. Cambridge Croquet Match

Sunday June 8th

The time has come: on Sunday June the 8th will be held the 2008 Oxford vs. Cambridge Croquet Match.

The most important technique at this event is "force of numbers" and it is by gathering together a motley bunch that one side may best hope to prevail against an opposition that will doubtlessly engage in much gamesmanship in order to try to get the upper hand. Other techniques include "scheming with your partner" and "uproarious laughter".

For those of you that are not familiar with this event it is held on the croquet lawn in front of the Chateau du Lac Hotel at Genval, on the banks of the lake. The situation is idyllic and those people that do not have a car should mention in replying that they are in search of a lift.

The timing is as follows:

Sunday June 8th

Arrive: 09.30

Start: 09.45 practice

Match: 10.45 -12.30

12.30:  Presentation of the Cup

The event is free for all members. Afterwards we will endeavour to organise a picnic lunch. More on that to follow.

It would be helpful in setting up the teams if those members who would like to participate contact their team organiser: Tony Bernard tony.bernard@skynet.be

We look forward to seeing you for an excellent competitive match!

NB Genval is 20km to the south of Brussels just to the other side of the Foret de Soignes
