Music and Wine in Rüdesheim am Rhein, 28-29 March, 2015

Our Captain of Music, Andrew Wise, and CamSoc Soprano Penelope Turner are once again taking a programme of 1930s music to Germany. A number of you were able to travel with them last year to hear them perform in Rüdesheim am Rhein in the heart of Germany's idyllic wine region to the

West of Wiesbaden (Frankfurt).

This time the programme,  Marlene in Paris, is inspired by the German icon Marlene Dietrich. It conjures up the flamboyance, elegance, and dark political undertones of Paris between the two World Wars, where Marlene Dietrich spent much time, living on the Champs-Elysées and mixing with influential figures such as Jean Cocteau and his circle of talented friends.

Andrew and Penelope will be performing songs in English, French and German by Kurt Weill, Francis Poulenc and Edith Piaf, and interpreting some of the hits made famous by Marlene herself (Der Blaue Engel, Lili Marlene…). There will also be piano music by Clément Doucet and Jean Wiéner.

Like last year, the organizer has arranged some fringe events for any of you who would like to can turn this opportunity into a weekend of culture and wine tasting. And like last year, there will be a prime table at the concert for all Oxbridge members in attendance.

There are three events detailed below, all separately priced, and you can make your selection and book accordingly with the organizer, Adolf Störzel via the following e-mail address: info@weingut-adolf-stoerzel-de

Reservations are required for practical reasons, so please let Adolf know what you would like to do by March 13th at the latest. Please mention your affiliation when reserving.
